As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 13 years of experience, I work with a broad range of adults from different lifestyles and orientations and meet them where they are at. I assist clients with identifying obstacles that may be getting in the way to a more meaningful, connected quality of life they long for. My passion is to walk along side of individuals as they make positive, life altering changes that impact how they see themselves, others and the world around them. I see my role as your therapist to be a witness to your experience(s) , build on your strengths and offer additional resources to build a solid foundation to guide your work. My mindful approach judges nothing and welcomes all aspects of one's self...your thoughts, feelings, behaviors and body sensations. I use specific brain based techniques (Brainspotting and the Comprehensive Resource Model) that integrate the mind and body to alleviate symptoms and create change at a deeper, neurobiological level than traditional talk therapy. This bottom up processing gets to the root of the issue to rewire your system to create lasting results. I am one of few therapist in my area that utilize these brain based interventions. Please visit Additional Information on my page for more information on Brainspotting and the Comprehensive Resource Model.
For any therapeutic approach to be effective, it is important for a strong therapeutic relationship. It is important that you are heard. I create a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental environment. I bring warmth, openness, encouragement and directness to the therapeutic setting in combindation with my experience, education, creativity and sense of humor .
Considering counseling can create a vast array of emotions and uncertainty. It's a courageous first step to reach out and I thank you for being here. It will be a privilege to walk along side of you as you become the best person you want to be. Counseling is a life-long gift you can give yourself.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Master's in Science in Educational Psychology... Community Counseling. It's an exciting time to be in this field!
I started my own practice in 2017. I began my career in 2004 at The Healing Center in Milwaukee as a sexual assault counselor. For the last 13 years, I worked specifically with adults who experienced sexual trauma in childhood and/or adulthood in both individual and group settings. I have created effective programs that incorporated trauma focused strategies designed for client need and issues. With the experience and expertise, I understand how trauma impacts the mind, body and spirit and implemented interventions that target these aspects of self. My experience has offered me much exposure and knowledge with the issues that also accompany trauma...anxiety, depression, dissociation, anger, relationship issues to name a few. My work at The Healing Center help me shape my view of trauma. I understand trauma on a broad sense...not only in it's traditional definition but any event or situation that overwhelms our system to cope. Physical trauma (injuries, accidents), medical or birth trauma, developmental trauma, exposure to violence and chronic stress are some examples.
